From 2009 to 2014, I was Senior Tutor, leading the Acting Foundation Course at Arts Educational Schools, London. I am also Resident Director at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance.

Senior Tutor, Foundation Acting, Arts Educational Schools (2009-14)

The Foundation Course is a one year, part-time course for students, aged 17 and over. Starting in September 2009, I redesigned the course from scratch. By 2012, over 70% of students who applied for full-time training, gained places on BA or MA courses at CDS/DramaUK schools following the course. As part of my role, I taught modules in: Readiness to Act; Truthfulness and Text; Shakespeare without Fear; Devising; and Rehearsal and Performance. I was also responsible for auditioning candidates, and for pastoral care.

Student performances directed for the course include: ‘Hot Mess’ by Ella Hickson; ‘Eurydice’ by Sarah Ruhl; ‘After Miss Julie’ by Patrick Marber; ‘The Acid Test’ by Anya Reiss; ‘Vinegar Tom’ by Caryl Churchill; and ‘Two Marias’  and ‘Nothing Compares To You’ by Bryony Lavery.

Resident Director, Department of Vocal Studies, Trinity Laban (2009-)

Since September 2009, I have taught regular acting classes with BMus and MMus Vocal Studies students, designing a syllabus which allows students to develop their skills over time, and addresses the specific needs of singers. This includes work on ensemble movement; approaching a scene, and acting through song.
